Privacy Policy

Overview

Ripplecast is a UK fishing weather tracker. We are committed to being transparent about how the service works and what data is involved. This policy explains what information is processed when you use ripplecast.co.uk.

We do not operate user accounts, collect registration details, or sell any data to third parties.

Data we do not collect

Ripplecast does not collect, store, or process:

• Your name or email address
• Payment information
• Cookies set by Ripplecast itself
• Any form submissions (there are no account forms)

Data stored on your device

Ripplecast stores the following information in your browser. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:

• Saved locations: fishing spots you have starred/saved
• Recent searches: the last few locations you searched for
• Unit preferences: your chosen temperature and wind units

You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data, or using the "Clear" options within the app.

Location data

If you use the "My Location" feature, your browser will request your GPS coordinates. If granted, these coordinates are used solely to sort fishing spots by distance and to fetch weather data for your area. Location data is not stored on our servers.

When you select a fishing location, its coordinates are sent to our weather API proxy (hosted on Cloudflare Workers) to retrieve weather data from Open-Meteo and OpenWeatherMap. These coordinates are not logged or retained beyond the duration of the request.

Third-party services

Ripplecast uses the following third-party services:

• Cloudflare: hosts the website. Cloudflare may process IP addresses for security and performance purposes. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Open-Meteo: provides weather forecast data. Requests include location coordinates. See Open-Meteo's terms.
• OpenWeatherMap: provides current weather data and map tiles. See OpenWeatherMap's privacy policy.
• Cloudflare Analytics: privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics used to understand visitor numbers. No personal data is collected. See Cloudflare Web Analytics.

Affiliate links

Ripplecast contains affiliate links to fishing tackle retailers. When you click an affiliate link, you will be taken to a third-party retailer's website. That retailer may set cookies on your device in accordance with their own privacy policy. We may earn a small commission if you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate links are clearly labelled throughout the site. We currently participate in the following affiliate programmes:

• Amazon Associates UK: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon may set cookies when you follow a link to amazon.co.uk. See Amazon's privacy notice.
• Awin: we are a member of the Awin affiliate network. Links to retailers such as Total Fishing Tackle, Fishing Tackle & Bait, and Go Outdoors may be tracked via Awin. See Awin's privacy policy.

Ko-fi (tips)

The "Support" link takes you to our Ko-fi page at ko-fi.com, which is a separate third-party service. Any tip or payment is processed by Ko-fi and Stripe. Ripplecast does not receive or store any payment information. See Ko-fi's privacy policy.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data held about you. As Ripplecast does not collect personal data, there is nothing held on our side to action. For data processed by third-party services listed above, please refer to their respective privacy policies.
